A 50% deposit secures your build slot. The roof is cut in, sealed, wired and finished at our Sydney workshop.

Engineering certification handled if you add it. Full walkthrough at handover, and a 1-year workmanship warranty.

POP-TOP FAQ.
Why aluminium?
Marine-grade aluminium holds up over years of touring in ways other materials don't — no cracking, delaminating or fading. We build one product, properly, and stand behind it.
How much does the full setup cost?
The structure, fitted, is $18,550 inc GST. The NSW Engineering Certificate + Weighbridge adds $850. Extras (bed platform, ladder, fan, solar and so on) are quoted per vehicle — send an enquiry with what you're after and we'll come back with a tailored total.
Do I need the engineering certificate?
In NSW, yes — to keep your rego and insurance valid on the modified vehicle. Other states have different rules. Ask us.
Which vehicles does it fit?
We build to your van's specific structure. Common platforms include Toyota Hiace (H200 & H300), VW Transporter, VW Multivan, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Hyundai iMax and Mitsubishi Pajero — plus other vans and SUVs. Send us your model and we'll confirm.
How long does it take?
Lead time is confirmed at quote stage. It varies by vehicle and season.
Can I add solar and roof loads?
Yes. The flat aluminium roof is designed as a structural platform. It carries solar, roof racks and general expedition loads without aftermarket cross-bars.
Is Kata the manufacturer?
We partner with Mulgo (Expedition Centre), a Sydney-based aluminium pop-top manufacturer with 16+ years in the field. Every fit-out is done by the Kata team at our Matraville workshop.
What's the warranty?
1 year on workmanship from Kata. Manufacturer warranties apply to the structure, canvas and hardware.
